Feature
Remove silences and dead air from your video
Long gaps and false starts are what make a talking video feel slow. Remove them in one request, then check the cuts on the timeline.
The silence remover cuts the dead air out of a video: every silence longer than about 0.3 seconds, between words, before the first word and after the last, goes down to about a tenth of a second. It looks at both the word timings and the sound itself, so a quiet stretch where someone is still talking is never cut.

How it finds the pauses
Most silence removers only listen for quiet. That cuts breaths and soft words along with the gaps. Ours checks two things: where the transcript says words are, and where the sound drops to the file's own noise floor.
The sound check runs in your browser. It measures the level every 10 milliseconds, finds the file's floor and its speech level, and marks quiet runs of at least 150 milliseconds. A stretch counts as silence only where both agree there's no speech.
Two ways to cut
Ask the chat to "cut the pauses" for a quick pass over the whole video: every gap over 0.3 seconds is shortened, and you can ask for a different threshold ("only gaps over a second").
Or run AI edit for footage with retakes. It looks at the whole video at once, catches a line you fumbled in one take and said again in the next, and keeps only the best take of each line. Its Cutting slider goes from Gentle to Max.
| Cut the pauses | AI edit | |
|---|---|---|
| What goes | Silences over 0.3 s (you can change it) | Pauses, ums and repeated takes |
| How it decides | Word timings and the sound | The transcript and the picture, one pass over every clip |
| Strength | A gap length you choose | A slider, Gentle to Max |
| Captions | Separate request | An Add captions switch |
Filler words go too
Ask to remove the ums and our AI cuts every um, uh and similar filler it finds in the transcript, cleanly at the word's edges. You can also cut a phrase you say too often, like "you know", the first time or every time.
- Cut 27 pauses longer than 0.3 s
- Cut 6 filler words
- Kept the 1.1 s pause at 0:42
Every cut stays editable
The cuts land as ordinary cuts on the timeline. If one is too tight, drag the clip's edge back open. If the whole pass is too much, press Undo once and the video is back as it was.
Captions, text and graphics move with the footage, so nothing is left floating over the wrong moment after the gaps close.

Good footage for it
- Talking-head videos, vlogs and tutorials recorded in one or a few long takes
- Podcast and interview clips where the gaps between answers drag
- Screen recordings with narration, where you stopped to think
- Not for music videos or footage where the silence is the point: ask it to keep those moments
Questions
How long a pause does it cut?
By default every silence over 0.3 seconds, shortened to about 0.12 seconds so the speech doesn't sound clipped. Ask for a different length and it uses that.
Will it cut my breaths or quiet words?
It cuts only where the transcript and the sound both say no one is talking, and it ignores quiet runs under 150 ms, which are gaps between syllables.
Does it remove retakes?
AI edit does: it compares every take in the video and keeps the best one of each line. Cutting the pauses alone leaves your takes in place.
Can I undo the cuts?
Yes. The whole pass is one Undo, and each cut is a normal edit you can drag open on the timeline.
What does it cost?
It comes with every paid plan: Pro $20 a month, Studio $50, Max $100. The plans differ in how many minutes of AI edit they include.

- TikTok videosDrop in your clips and say the edit: cut the pauses, add one-word captions, put a hook on the first second, keep it clear of TikTok's buttons. Then export.
- Podcast clipsCut the best minute of an episode into a vertical clip: the dead air removed, captions word by word, the guest's name in a lower third, ready to post.
- Animated captionsAdd captions timed to each word: karaoke fills, one big word at a time, a highlighted spoken word or a tag. Restyle them all at once or by chat.
